No, simply hold your phone near the FC Safety Shield tag to activate it. No additional apps are required.

How does Near Field Communication (NFC) work?

NFC technology is elegantly simple: evolved from radio frequency identification (RFID), an NFC chip functions as part of a wireless connection. When activated by your smartphone, it transfers small amounts of data between devices held within a few centimeters of each other.

Is NFC better than Bluetooth?

NFC offers greater security than Bluetooth due to its shorter operating range, which creates a more stable connection. This makes NFC particularly effective in crowded environments where multiple devices might cause signal interference.

Why can't my phone read the tag?

For Android devices, place the center of your phone directly on top of the tag. For iPhones, hold the top of your phone at a slight angle, almost perpendicular to the tag for optimal reading.

How do I activate NFC on my Android device?

On Samsung Android phones, go to Settings > Connections > NFC and contactless payments, then toggle the switch to turn NFC on. Once activated, you can adjust your contactless payment settings and select your preferred service such as Google Pay or Samsung Pay.

How is FC Safety Shield different from QR codes or barcodes?

The FC Safety Shield contains an NFC chip, which provides significantly higher security and reliability compared to standard barcodes or QR codes.
